A few months ago, an opportunity of running a new venture was brought up to me. The venture was supposed to be based on a new sensor technology that was developed by some brilliant scientists, something that does not exist yet (as far as they knew), and can really create a new compelling value serving billions of consumers (when integrated into the “right”, but non existing yet, end to end solution). Without getting into confidential details, the original idea of the technology owners was to develop these sensors, which will become part of the IoT fabric, through integration to connected devices.
The IoT fabric is comprised of 3 main elements: end points, connectivity, cloud computing and big data platforms (click here to read my IoT post).
A start-up company that develops a new type of sensor in 2015, Sounds good! But, is it good enough? Should it focus only on the sensor itself or should it provide an end to end solution? How such a company should disrupt in the IoT world?
